I'd be surprised if you haven't already heard of the wonderful product from Beacon Adhesives called Glitter-It! I first learned all about it from My Pink Stamper here. Robyn has an excellent video posted of how to make glitter ornaments. It wasn't easy for me to find Glitter-It... I went to every one of my local craft stores and could not find it, so I went straight to the Beacon Adhesives website. From there, it will take you to Signature Crafts if you want to purchase it.
I have an ornament exchange coming up at work, so my Glitter-It arrived just in time. Here are some pictures of how I made the ornaments. (Pardon the messy craft table!) I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to do!
I started with clear glass ornaments (purchased from Hobby Lobby - $3 for 12 of them!)
First, make sure you put paper towels or newspaper down in your work area in case you spill.
Take the top off the clear ornament, and squirt the Glitter-It inside... you don't need very much... maybe a tablespoon or so. Rotate the ornament so the glue covers the entire inside surface. tip the ornament as you rotate, pouring the excess into a cup or a bottle. I used a water bottle because I did not have a small enough cup and it fit perfectly in the top of the bottle. Set the ornament upside down in the bottle and let the extra glue drain out.
Pour glitter inside the ornament and rotate it.
Keep rotating until the glitter completely covers the inside of the ornament. Dump out the excess glitter on a sheet of paper so you can re-use it.
Aren't they beautiful?!
Next, I cut the letters J, O, and Y out on white vinyl on my Cricut, using the Plantin Schoolbook cartridge at 2". I put one letter on each ornament and put the tops back on the ornaments.
I added ribbon to them and here they are!
The O gave me some trouble.. that sucker was not easy to get on there without crinkling up!
(Yes, that is my Christmas tree... not decorated yet! :-x That's a weekend goal!)
The pictures do not even do them justice - they are much more sparkly in real life! I love the way these turned out. These ones are getting wrapped up for the ornament exchange, but I am definitely going to make some more for myself!!
I hope you all have a great weekend. I will be busy putting up Christmas decorations... I feel like I'm running behind on doing that. Do you already have your decorations up?

These are lovely. Love the Joy spelled out on the Cricut. Totally doing this. I did a similar project with glitter paint, but I gotta add the letters. Please come over and link this up to Dare to DIY. It's a perfect project for dare to... deck the halls.
These are amazing. I love glitter ornaments but I HATE glitter getting all over my hands. How perfect are these to solve that problem!
That's really cute, actually.
All my ornaments are so drab and cheap, I really need to start putting some effort into them.

Oh wow, they turned out so good! I bought some of those clear ornaments too, but I wish I would have seen this idea before I filled them with other things! I"m at Hobby Lobby all the time, so I'll definitely have to look for this Glitter It stuff.
Those are so amazing! I've got a couple glitter-y ornaments but the glitter is on the outside and can get kind of messy. I love this idea!
What a cute idea! I'm bookmarking this for next year!
Wow these are great! I was looking all over for the Glitter it. I will have to order some.
